In 2012 I made the decision to get off the couch and complete a life-long goal of becoming an IRONMAN Triathlete. I knew this would be no easy task, so I enlisted the help of Paul Jones in order to achieve this very lofty goal.
Paul’s knowledge in all matters regarding overall fitness, nutrition and injury prevention was second to none. He made it clear that I couldn’t just rush into the training required to complete the 140.6miles.
We agreed to start on a course of building overall base fitness using a combination of group boot-camp sessions, structured solo training and one-to-one training to target specific weaknesses for 12 months before starting Triathlon specific training.
Paul’s dynamic approach to Ironman training was an essential component in my journey, providing me with weekly structured training plans that would often be adjusted after feedback from myself, to address specific weaknesses, or to compensate for missed training and injury.
Following Paul’s advice helped me achieve my goals in record time, while limiting injury for such an aggressive schedule. Race day came and fully supported by Paul, my friends and family I crossed the IRONMAN UK finish line.
Without a doubt Paul’s structured and flexible training plans were the key to completing the race. He offered support and encouragement when I thought the training was more than I could handle and pushed me to achieve things I thought were impossible! I can’t thank him enough for supporting me in becoming an IRONMAN.
